This web page provides an index to the Surveyor's documents that have been scanned at the Hendricks County Government center.
The first book shown here is Stan Shartle's "Manual for Corner Stone Search", published in 2001. In this book, Mr. Shartle makes reference to several series of books.
"Book A" has been lost for over 100 years and therefore is not indexed on these web pages. "Book B" and "Book C" are indexed below. "Book B" was started by James M. Gregg in 1832, but has entries thru 1868.
"Book C" was started by Job Hadley in 1845. By 1870, "Book C" was wearing out so that data was copied to a new series of books, the "Red Books".
The "Red Books" series contained entries from around 1835 to the 1950's.
Sometime in the 1950's the data from the "Red Books" was copied to a new series of books called the "Brown Books".
